Goal weight is set for 160lbs. When I get there to goal weight, I must decide how I feel being at this weight. If I feel ill any where near this or close to goal weight, I will stop the weight loss by increasing my calorie intake, (more snacks or small meals) until I find the correct balance to not lose or gain weight. I'll let you all know what is best for me later. |

The Rules! The rules for the game of losing weight are simple. Keep a diary and count calories and grams of protein. Exercise on a regular basis is a must! Due to my physical disabilities, exercise is limited. Until I can exercise on a regular basis, I try to keep my calorie count under 1500 per day and 1000 to 1200 calories per day is ideal for quick and fairly safe weight loss. I do not give up if I screw up from time to time as long as I keep records of my counting and I try again the following day. I found when I keep a diary, I fool myself less! Protein is simple too! I eat no more than 80 grams per day and 100 grams or over is going into dangerous waters. I do not get below 40 grams either. I found the higher the protein consumed, the lower the calories and the less hungry I feel. My sugar and carbohydrates, (carbos) needed to be outlawed for a couple of weeks and brought back slowly or not at all! I still have a hard time staying away from fruit. Surprisingly, I also gave up red meat. Now I only eat chicken, soy or fish for my protein. I also did a lot of tests for things dealing with my overall health and dealing with each problem, (physical, spiritual & mental). An example would be - I'm allergic to lactate so I use soy products instead. I found soy substitutes to be healthier for me than all milk products made. I study Tai Chi for exercise and to learn to control my disabilities better, an on-going process. I swallow a lot of vitamins, minerals and certain metal phosphates missing from soil, plants and animal meats. My list includes the following: 1) Calcium - 1500 to 1800Mg/3 times per day 2) Multi-Vitamin/Mineral - Adult strength/2 times per day (focus on good metal content) 3) Vitamin "C" - 500Mg/2 times per day 4) Chromium Picolinate w/Zinc - 800Mg/2 times per day (for extra energy due to the lack of sugar). 5) Juice Plus+ - An additive for the lack of strength in the fruits and veggies grown today. Doctor recommended. See the web site at http://www.juiceplus.com for more information. All of the vitamins, metals and minerals are taken for the lack of these substances not being produced in my body due to the bariatric surgery performed on me in February 2003. This surgery was the ultimate tool toward my weight loss recovery. The laproscopic surgery was performed by Dr. Billy and in my opinion the best Doctor/Surgeon in his field! I can make this statement mainly due to his ability to follow-up his work with once a month work shops and regular check-ups for me. I believe we have a bond because of this extra caring and I enjoy our visits. Once again I must stress I do not recommend this operation or diet to any one unless you're in pain and you've tried everything else! This was my choice due to being morbidly obese and I cannot control the disabilities I'm faced with or at the time, my weight problem. Dr. Billy gave me the fighting chance I needed to work out a program. I wish I could had done all of this differently, but I'd tried everything else and FAILED! This works for me! |
